Micro Waterjet LLC Announces New Headquarters
MicroWaterjet LLC nowoffers contract manufacturing services through the North American Headquarters in Huntersville, NC, with plans to sell the WOMAJET by the end of 2010.
Combining abrasive waterjet cutting technology with the precision of a laser enables the company to provide +/- 3-micron
(0. 0001-inch) positioning accuracy, the company said. For companies seeking contract manufacturing of high-precision and micro parts, the newproprietary process is as accurate as EDM, but faster with no heat deformation, said the company.
Developed in Switzerland, the new WOMAJET has been producing high-precision micro parts since 2004 with more than 50% of production within themedical industry.MicroWaterjet provides rapid prototyping for aerospace and automotive to electrical, watch manufacturing and more specialty applications. Designed for fast prototyping, the capabilities range from simple cutting to complete solutions including milling, grinding, thread cutting and more, the company said.
“With proprietaryAbrasiveWaterjet Micro Machining (AWJMM) technology, a surface quality of 1.6 Ra (depending onmaterial/thickness) can be obtained without the negative effects of process forces and thermal stress,” said a company spokesperson.
“Smaller nozzles and advanced technologies achieve high precision that compete more with EDM and laser than traditionalwaterjetmachines. Biocompatible, precision parts with tolerances +/-0.01 mm and kerf widths of
0. 3 mm are achieved for ceramics to titanium while decreasing deburring and scrap rates. The maximum work piece size is 1,000 x 600 mm.

IMTS is one of the largest industrial trade shows in the world, with thousands of exhibitors and more than 91,000 visitors.
Highlighting the opening day’s events will be a keynote luncheon program featuring speakers from key Industrial markets including aerospace, automotive, energy andmedical manufacturing. A round-table panel discussion will conclude the luncheon program, whichwill be held from12:00 PM to 3:00 PM in the Industry & Technology Conference area of the West building of Chicago’s McCormick Place.
IMTS attendees registered for a conference session will be admitted to the luncheon program. Exhibiting company representatives will also be eligible to attend on an RSVP basis.
“IMTS attendees repeatedly tell us that they come to the show to learn, to network and to find newresources and innovative manufacturing technology resources,” said John Krisko, IMTS Director
- Exhibitions. “We are committing significant energy and resources to make the conference the premier educational offering available to the manufacturing industry.” The IMTS Industry & Technology Conference will bring the industry together, under one roof and at one time, to discuss new opportunities, network with industry peers and explore innovative ways to overcome day-to-day and long-range challenges.
The conference program, September 14-17, will focus on six topic tracks featuring a wide range of industry specific sessions including:
• Materials Engineering (Physical Properties, What’s New, Future [R&D]).
• Machining Technology & Trends (General Cutting [turning, milling, etc.], Grinding, Tooling/Workholding).
• Alternative Manufacturing Processes (Waterjet, Laser, EDM, Welding, Fastening/ Joining).
• Metrology (Measuring, Testing, Inspection, 3-D Inspection, Standards).
• Plant Operations (Lean Manufacturing, CAD/CAM, Training/Work Force, Government, Energy Efficiency, MTConnect).

H&R Mfg. And Supply, Inc. Expands Capabilities
H&R Mfg. And Supply, Inc., an industry leader in workholding, manufactures custom designed and standard products for all workholding needs.
H&R has expanded its product offering recently by adding many heavy duty products such as its new low-profile, extra heavy-duty boring mill jaws.
H&R has also expanded its manufacturing capabilities. Even in a down economy, H&R is looking to expand by recently adding a new Accutex 6-axis Capablewire EDMmachine aswell as a new 40 taper Johnford CNCmill. Since this is the first EDM machine for H&R, they wanted a flexible and highly-optioned machine to suit current and future needs. TheAccutexAU-300-I EDM Machine was their choice. It has a table workspace of 13.8” X, 9.8” Y and 8.7” in Z height. H&R also bought the PEPS EDM wire cut software CAD-CAM system for this machine.
“The Accutex EDM has many bonus features including a flushing operation where the machined part doesn’t have to be submerged to be ma chined, ” sa id a company spokesperson. “TheAccutex EDMalso has an automatic wire threading operation which will allow H&R to return to the cutting operation faster than most traditional machines. H&R is looking to expand its own process through better accuracy as well as provide customers with complex part machining capabilities that will hold
0. 00004 inches. The true 5-axis machine capability will allow us to do many odd shapes and angles with a one-time cut rather than the traditional straight line 3-axis thatmany othermachines provide.” For more information contact: Derek Hivnor H&RManufacturing & Supply Inc. 12400 Rose Road Willis, TX 77378 936-856-5529 Fax: 936-856-8550 dlhivnor@hrmfg.com www.hrmfg.com
