panorama time to Alice and Adventures inWonderland The ArtCentre Theatre will present two versions of Alice in Wonderland August 27–September 12. “Fantastic costumes and high-energy singing and dancing will jump off the stage and thrill adults and children,” said Jamey Jamison, president of the ArtCentre Theatre, referring to both productions. Adventures in Wonderland is a twisted version of the classic tale presented by the Advanced Acting Troupe, who range in age from 16–19 years old. They will put on an original “pre-Burton” script that they’ve written over the year. Alice in Wonderland will be presented by summer camp performers in grades 5—12. “This one is more of a mature look at the work, keeping some of the darkness Lewis Carol is noted for, but still fun and silly and a riot on stage,” said Jamison. “There is a scene in the garden where all the flowers are gassed and die dramatic prolonged soap opera deaths. There is another scene where the cards rock out to a jazz number with the Queen of Hearts.” Both productions will take place at The ArtCentre Theatre, located at 1028 15th Pl. in downtown Plano. A 12 PLANO PROFILE AUGUST 2010 UP FRONT play! Sure, the kids go back to school in August, but there’s still enough time for young theatergoers to enjoy these stage acts!
